Bill Washburn, physics

Among many exceptional teachers at NHS, Mr. Washburn stands out:

He didn`t TEACH physics, he made you BELIEVE it.

E.g., I believe the Earth does have a magnetic field. He took the class out to the football field with a 50-foot extension cord and a voltmeter. Got Dave, Boyd, I and (?) swinging it as a jumprope, Kate jumping and Vicki holding the voltmeter clipped to the ends.

YUP! electricity! Much more when we were swingin` on the north-south axis!

Oh, so many more Washburn stories! Ask Dave how he taught Boyles`s law! And a subtle mentor and a classic role model.

Me, Don Burnham? Honors at Entry to Cal. . . the campus requiring no suffix. . .and squeaked out in 1968 with a 2.34, went Peace Corps Iran, won the Cold War with a little help from my friends, retired.
